Description
- 35cm. high, 29cm. wide, 5cm. deep
the scrolled frame carved in high relief, the crest centered by a grotesque mask, flanked by putti seated on scrollwork and holding a drapery, the lower section with fruit and foliage, wanting mirror glass

Condition
In overall good condition considering age and use. Some minor dents, marks, scratches and losses to the carvings (such as rims, extremities). Few minor restorations (a.o. one small piece of wood to inside frame replaced). Some smaller vertical dryness cracks. Minor traces of old woodworm, visible to the reverse.

This mirror is a fine example of the characteristic scrollwork decoration of the late Renaissance, known above all from the publications by the Dutch architect and engineer Hans Vredeman de Vries (1527 - circa 1609) on ornaments (Dorica et Jonica; et Corinthia et Composita, 1565) and perspective (Perspectiva, 1604).
