Description

Comprising: two carved coral brooches and a pair of pendent earrings depicting the bearded face of Bacchus in various sizes with fruiting vines in his hair, each suspending carved amphora drops, hook earring fittings.

Condition

Coral throughout displaying typical banding, with some cavities to reverse. Larger Brooch: Left hand horn chipped with crack running along it, possible traces of glue to areas along the top. Hairline crack to right hand horn. Small chips around edges not visible when worn. Small amphora both with minor chips one with hairline crack. Pin fitting secure, tarnished. Smaller Brooch: Left eyebrown chipped. Chip to reverse, not visible when worn. Pin fitting secure, tarnished. Pendant Earrings: Typical cavities in the coral with traces of dirt throughout. Earring fittings long. Traces of dirt throughout piece, could benefit from a careful professional clean. In a silk covered box with velvet lining, lid deficient. In overall good condition.
