Catalogue Note
A chair which is of almost identical form is illustrated in Christopher Gilbert, The Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture 1700-1840, London, 1996, p.370, pl.724 and which is signed in ink `J. Peel Nov 29 1801' suggesting Peel as a possible maker. Sadly nothing is recorded about him.
