Stretcher restored and strengthened on underside where there have been cracks. The finial on the stretcher appears to be later. One foot is lighter than the rest on one stool and is probably a replacement. Another foot on the same stool has a section chipped off and also corners of the stretcher chipped off. There are also old minor restorations generally. Joints sound and sturdy. In otherwise good restored condition. Velvet covers, both with later superimposed motif of stylised eagle and haloe, one covering velvet with outline evidence of previous central figure of a saint, the other with cut out central section and inset with associated velvet, similarly coloured shaped cartouche, with vestiges of outline of original motif in top right corner. Some threads loose and others lacking. Velvet with small areas of loss of pile. Metal fringe distressed condition in sections.
