Description
- 229cm. 8ft. 6in. high
12-inch dial with mask and scroll spandrels, matted centre with seconds dial and date aperture, signed on a boss in the arch Benj. Davis, London, the movement with five knopped and ringed pillars, five wheel trains, external locking plate striking on a bell, the case with flat top moulded cornice above foliate frets, mirror panel trunk door and stepped base, the sides divided into panels with stringing and banding
Condition
Dial in good condition and reasonably clean, some surface rusting to hands. Movement is complete and appears to retain the original wheel work throughout, needs a clean, some surface rusting to steel work. Case is probably associated but a very compatible marriage, hood frets replaced, some old cracks and repairs but otherwise in very good condition. With pendulum (bob detached), two replaced brass-cased weights and a case key but no winder.
