Description
- 169cm. high, 112cm. wide; 5ft. 6½in., 3ft. 8in.
the rectangular bevelled mirror plate below an urn surmount with trailing foliate and husk swags, rosette motifs and scrolls, the margins with cross-grained rosewood reserves
Condition
This is a very decorative piece and generally in good condition. The gilding is worn all-over consistent with age and could benefit from cleaning. Some characteristic cracks to the gesso. The cresting, swags to top, trailing husks to sides and aparon are all bent out of alignment and with some minor consequent losses to gesso and will need attention. The wood is kingwood rather than rosewood as stated in the catalogue.
