Description

including a pair of armchairs, with applied brass mounts, padded suede rectangular backs and caned seats with squab cushions, on sabre legs, the rear seat-rail stamped WHOG, possibly the stamp of a Journeyman, restorations

Condition

These chairs have been restored and re-finished. The seats and backs are all in good condition. Some minor stains to upholstery. All have minor worm damage. The colour on all is rther inconsistent. They could possibly have been ebonised and subsequently re-finished. Armchair 1: Top-rail chipped Armchair 2 : Front right hand leg rather clumsily repaired at join with rails Chair 3: Rear seat rail cracked. Both front legs repaired adjacent to seat rails. Chair 4: Front right hand leg repaired adjacent to seat rail. Chair 5: Left hand upright cracked and reapired adjacent to seat rail. Front right hand leg repaired adjacent to seat rail Chair 6: Both uprights broken and repaired. Chair 7: Front left hand leg repaired Chair 8: Front right hand leg repaired adjacent to seat rail.
