Catalogue Note

The attribution to François Linke of Paris is one of certainty. Linke invariably used crab-like acanthus mounts (see Important 19th Century Furniture, these rooms, 1 October 2008). Linke was also one if the few Parisian makers to overlay gilt-bronze on glass. The overall style and quality of finish are typical of the Maison Linke, one of the leading cabinet makers of the Belle Epoque.
