A George IV rosewood, ebony and brass inlaid linen press in the manner of George Oakley circa 1825

Description

  • 224cm. high, 123cm. wide, 53cm. deep; 7ft.¼in., 4ft., 1ft8¾in
with a brass mounted triangular pediment above a pair of anthemion inlaid panel doors enclosing slides, with two short and two long drawers below, on ebonised bun feet

Condition

Re-polished with inconsistent colour throughout. Some plugged holes to left hand cornice return which also has its veneer lifting and damaged at the front corner. The brass inlay is lifting in places and has some losses and some poorly repaired sections. At least one interior slide is missing. The right side of the lower section with splits. Cock-beading lacking to lower drawer. Minor characteristic old marks and scratches throughout. A rare brass inlaid example.
