6½-inch dial with matted centre, mock pendulum aperture and day of the week sector with ruling deity, strike/not strike lever at IX, the gilded dial plate engraved with foliate scrolls within a wheat ear border, inset with a calendar aperture and applied with the figure of Chronos apparently supporting the chapter ring seated on a reserve signed Claudius Du Chesne, Londini, the two train fusee movement with five ring-turned knopped pillars, verge escapement with silk suspension, pull repeating the quarters on six bells and striking the hour on a further bell, the backplate engraved with a putto blowing a horn within similar foliate scrolls and border, the brass-bound case with domed cresting and urn finial, the front and back doors flanked by brass fluted pilasters, the sides with carrying handles above later frets, on bun feet

Condition

Good original gilding to dial plate, chapter ring would benefit from silvering, tip of hour hand lacking. Movement appears to have original wheel work, appears to run but in need of a clean, some alteration to regulation, later supporting brackets. The possibly associated case with many old surface cracks, lacking corner finials, tarnished brass mounts and later frets to the sides and rear. With pendulum but no winder.
