H. C. Marillier, Handbook to the Teniers Tapestries, London, 1932, pg. 55, pl.42b, for a weaving of a much wider composition, of which the present tapestry is the left hand side, described as Miscellaneous, Verdure with small figures, and attributed to P and (J-)F. van der Borght, within a narrow frame pattern border of scrolling acanthus and stem design. The right hand side of the composition reveals further figures in an elaborate formal garden with elaborate château in the background, the lake beyond with fountain feature and leisure boat. Several sets of this generic series are recorded by Marillier, ibid, one from Ravensworth (offered at Christie's, 13th May 1926) and another at Petworth, some with frame pattern borders, and a single panel from the series with a gipsy scene belonging to Lord Yarborough, with a narrow stem and acanthus border
