worked with couched gilt-threads with central foliate cross and star-burst motif, on a brown velvet ground applied with silver metal spangles and red small glass beads, the cloth of gold surrounding border with repeat motifs, with four-sided braid and gilt-fringe

Without Fringe 195cm. x 144cm.; 6ft. 4in., 4ft. 8in.
The fringed braid alone is an additional 11cm (approximately), on four-sides.
Old linen backing to this panel. Part of braid with dark stain. Cloth of gold threads lacking. Stable condition. Some wear. Minor spangle and bead loss. Attractive lot, which catches light due to metal spangles. Versatile size.
