very well painted by Sieffert, signed, with Japanese figures at leisure, the reverse with an extensive landscape

Condition

Overall in very good condition. There is a tiny loss of paint to one vase, approx. 1mm. square.

Catalogue Note

Louis-Eugène Sieffert was a Fench painter and porcelain decorator. He is recorded as a painter at the Sèvres factory 1881-1887 and 1894-1898. A pair of large Sèvres ormolu- mounted vases painted with Japanese maidens by Sieffert, was sold Sotheby's, New York, 14th April 2008, lot187 ($97,000). Sieffert  spent some time in England painting for Brown-Westhead, Moore & Co. and Coalport.
