Catalogue Note
This slimmer version of the well known pagoda figure is usually found about 9.5cm. in height; only two examples of this smaller version seem to have been sold in recent years: see Christie's 28.3.1983 lot 136 and Sotheby's New York 12.11.1999 lot 13. It may simply be that this is a particularly rare version, but an attribution to the du Paquier factory could perhaps also be considered.
