An English embroidered polychrome wool Crewelwork panel 18th century

comprised of three joined panels, worked in variety of stitches in polycrhome wool threads, with narrow tendriled trees with large scrolling leaves, incorporating exuberant flowers, fruit and knotted berries, and small animals such as deer and squirrels and birds and butterfly, with a hillocky lower edge; all motifs re-applied to present panelled cream calico ground

Panel not lined. Would benefit from being lined, whether to be used as curtain or hanging flat as panel. If later option chosen, then Velcro too should be added across the top edge. All motifs have been carefully and sympathetically re-applied to the present panelled creamy calico ground, and stitches around edges of motif are visible on the reverse of the panel, holding them in place. Some later stitch work on the ground alone, around leaf outline in places.There are some stains to front of the support fabric. Between some of the embroidered motifs on the front, the old support linen fabric is visible. The panel has been restored. This is a bold and bright panel. Very decorative, with charming details and of a versatile size.
