Description
comprising: a pale celadon carving in the form of a standing crane, its mouth grasping a leafy lingzhi sprig, perched on a painted coral stand to imitate rockwork and leaves; the other a pale celadon jade small incense holder, the exterior carved in low-relief of a flute-playing boy astride a water buffalo roaming among willow and paulownia trees, the base slightly recessed; the third a white jade carving of a recumbent horse with a playful monkey, of even tone with light russet inclusions (3)
Condition
Horse and monkey: There are a few brown inclusions in the stone, with one brown line running diagonally across the back of the horse.
Incense holder: Overall in good condition with a small clear vein at the bottom of the holder.
Crane: the tip of the branch has been broken off. There are a few very minor chips to the piece. There are still some reminence of paint on the underside of the ivory base.
All three pieces are slightly more celadon than show in the catalogue.
