Description

of flattened rectangular section and bianhu shape, carved in low-relief on the exterior with a continuous register of five-tiered bosses enclosed in raised fillets, between upright lappets at the foot and pendent lappets at the shoulder, the short waisted neck with an upright squared lip and beveled edges, supported on a squared foot, surmounted by a domical cover with beveled edges, with a reticulated dragon finial, the stone of even celadon tone with minor white inclusions on the foot (2)

Condition

The corners of the mouth and of the cover may have been later faceted. There are two white inclusions at the lower corner of the vase. There is a long vertical inclusion which runs through the entire body of the vase. There is a small flaw to the stone at the mouth of the vase. There are a few minor nicks to the cover. The actual color of the vase is more celadon than illustrated in the catalogue.
