Description

the globular body and waisted neck decorated with the 'hundred bats' motif in iron-red amidst ruyi-shaped multicolored cloud scrolls, the ribbed shoulder further decorated with a band of stylized lotuses and shou characters, all between a band of pendent ruyi-heads below the mouth and a band of stylized lotus panel above the foot (2)

Condition

Both vases are in good condition with very slight wear to the gilding on the rim. One vase has a 1/2 inch glaze pull on the base. The colors on one vase are paler and the design less densely executed than the other; the body is also comparatively more globular than the other. There are small variations between the two in the execution of the design.
