each panel of vertical rectangular shape, one molded with the Eight Daoist Immortals among rocks, against a ground of cresting waves with a crane flying above, the other molded with warriors on a tumultuous ocean, saluting a warrior floating on a cloud, with a monk and an attendant behind him, set in carved wood frames, elaborately carved wood stands, wood boxes (6)
Provenance
Acquired by Belle Selby Curtice for her daughter, Miriam Curtice Dodge, in Beijing in 1917.
Thence by descent to the present owner.
Condition
The screens have not been inspected out of their frames. Both with slight wear to the enamels on the raised areas. Minor scattered iron spots. The stands have minor detached pieces and losses, some glued repairs. In good condition overall.
