each boldly painted on the body with peonies, chrysanthemum and bamboo issuing from pierced rockwork, beneath an iron-red zig-zag border at the shoulder and a pheasant perched amongst similar plants and rockwork on the neck, each with a wood stand (4)

Collection of Heber R. Bishop (b. 1840 - d. 1902).
Thence by descent to the present owner.

Condition

Both vases are in good condition. One with a four-point hairline star crack on the base. The same vase with a unevenly potted foot, resulting in slight wobbliness. Minor glaze imperfections.
