each with rounded sides painted in underglaze-blue to the exterior with the Eight Immortals, each displaying their attribute on a ground of puce breaking waves above a narrow keyfret band around the foot, the center of the interior each painted with Shoulao holding a staff beside a deer with a lingzhi-spray in its mouth below clouds (2)

Condition

One bowl with a 1/2 inch firing flaw and an adjacent 1/2 inch restored rim chip. This bowl is slightly heavier than the other. The other with scattered overall pinpricks and iron-spots. The colors are less pink than the catalogue image suggests. In otherwise good condition.

Catalogue Note

A pair of Daoguang bowls of this design from the Edward T. Chow Collection was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 19th May 1981, lot 530; and another in these rooms, 13th June 1984, lot 192. A later example of this pattern with a Guangxu mark was included in the exhibition Imperial Porcelain of Late Qing, Art Gallery, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1983, cat.no. 112.
