Description
each with steep upright sides rising from a flat slightly countersunk base, finely painted on the exterior with pairs of mandarin ducks swimming and flying amidst large orange lotus blooms, below a narrow register of underglaze blue dragons in pursuit of a flaming pearl, the base of the interior similarly decorated with a pair of ducks, below a band encircling the rim with lança characters (2)
Condition
Both bowls are in overall good condition. There are several pin-point imperfections scattered across the exterior and interior of the bowls. The green enamel to the interior of both bowls shows minor wear and is a little matte. There is a minute pin-point glaze pull at 2.15 pm next to the seal mark on the base of one bowl and a blue underglaze pin-point dot at 9pm next to the seal mark on the base of the second bowl. This bowl also has a tiny glaze flaw in form of a tiny burst bubble with sand adhering to it at 11pm on the interior just above and on the double ring. The colors are less saturated than in the catalogue photo and the green is a lime green color not turquoise looking as in the photo.
