Description
each bulb finely painted in rich cobalt-blue tones with figures in continuous landscape scenes, all within floral, chevron and double-line borders, the slightly waisted neck with a band of stylized tulip flowers
Provenance
Sotheby's London, 10th November 2005, lot 288.
Condition
The rim and upper part of the neck is restored all the way around, the restored area extending down to a maximum of approx 2 inches. It is impossible to tell the extent of the original damage this covers. The restoration is well done but has discolored slightly. There is a 2 inch firing tear to the underside of the base. There are some iron-colored adhering grit spots to one side in two areas. On one side of the vase the glaze is suffused with fine black speckling. On one horse's head there is some bubbling to the glaze which feels rough to the touch.
