Description

intricately carved depicting a raft carrying the 'Eight Daoist Immortals' holding their respective attributes, with two seated attendants and another two attendants paddling the long oar, the other side with two groups of scholars, one comprising three figures contemplating as one reads from a handscroll, while nearby two figures hold open the ends of a long handscroll allowing another to inscribe with a brush while two look on, the top of the raft masterfully carved as a winding gnarled pine tree, accompanied by a lone attendant paddling an oar, the wood of deep brown tone, with wood stand (2)

Condition

The upper part of the prow of the boat and the carved areas adjacent have been broken off and reattached. Two of the figures have been broken off and reattached. The stand appears to have an old repair through the waisted section.
