Description

the warm honey-colored material naturalistically carved in the form of an open magnolia flower, borne on a gnarled leafy stalk issuing further smaller buds around the vessel and forming a short foot to the base, the handle in the form of a qilong dragon clambering across a gnarled stem

Condition

The rim of the vessel has small nicks and old age cracks that have been inpainted. A shallow and small chip on the exterior rim (approximately 1/8 inch) is associated with a semi-circular restored chip, 1/2 inch wide. There is an old 1/4 inch chip closer to the handle. One insect bore to the upper section of the handle. In otherwise good condition. Two small and fine age cracks on the reticulated carving of the foot. The color is less red than the catalogue image suggests.
