the black lacquer ground on each panel set with hardstones, stained bone, jade and ivory to depict an elephant supporting a vase of scholars' objects, each panel surmounted by two characters forming a couplet, all within a frame supported by a bronze handle (2)
Condition
Generally good original condition. One has one ivory balustrade post missing at one end, the other has the entire balustrade and three posts missing. The backgrounds of both may have been retouched.
