the figure reclining against a small recumbent elephant, dressed in a loose robe, with incised borders inlaid with tiny turquoise embellishments, holding an alms bowl with the left hand, the right hand resting on the knee, the stone of creamy-white color with reddish-russet inclusions

Condition

The figure has a chip on the upper-back of his head approximately 1/4 inch long. The underside corresponding to his right knee has been polished down (length approximately 1/2 inch). Two of the turquoise inlays are original and the others may be later replacements.
