Description
each box and cover with straight sides, one of pomegranate shape and carved to the top with a large pair of fruiting pomegranate and flowering prunus with dark-green leaves, all reserved on a floret diaper ground, the other of peach shape and carved to the top with fruiting peaches borne on a bough with dark-green leaves, reserved on a diamond diaper ground, the sides of both boxes with wan diaper grounds, the interiors and bases lacquered black (4)
Condition
The boxes and covers are in overall good condition with expected areas of repainting, particularly on the edges and rims. The undersides and interiors have been relacquered. The pomegranate cover has a long horizontal crack on the interior 3 1/2 inches long, with a smaller associated crack running into a small circular bruised point, associated with fine spider-like cracks. The interior with four other small bruised points, and several fine cracks along the sides. The interior of the pomegranate box also with some cracks along the sides.
