Description
the finely and deeply carved gourd-shaped panel enclosing jade and hardstone-inlaid medallions encircled by bajixiang emblems reserved on a dense diaper ground, all supported on a ruyi-shaped base
Condition
The screen is in good overall condition with the exception of a crack and small areas of loss to lacquer at the left side of the waist of the double gourd and a small area of restoration to the lacquer on the right side of the waist, a 1cm., long area of loss to the front edge of the lacquer to the middle of the upper bulb, restoration to the top of the front edge of the screen, restoration to the right front corner of the top of the stand, minor light age cracks and refreshing to the red lacquer on the reverse of the screen, replaced inlay to half of the top bat and to one of the central leaves at the waist, and possible re-attachment or replacement of the jade medallion in the top bulb.
