Description
of shallow lobed form, finely carved to the interior with a scholar seated on a promontory amidst a towering pine tree and shrubbery issuing from rockwork, the bearded sage seated with a wine cup in front of him admiring distant mountains while his attendant sits in front of a stove, the shallow everted rim decorated on both sides with large blooming peony flowers, the base lacquered black

Condition
This finely carved dish is in very good overall condition with the exception of restoration to a shallow circa 4cm., wide crescent-shaped section of the rim (at 10 o'clock) with associated short hairline cracks, re-lacquering to the footring, tweleve hairline cracks (longest 3.5cm.) radiating inwards from the footring on the black base and several short hairline cracks to the base.
