Description
the deep U-shaped body rising from a short narrow foot to a flaring rim, finely and deeply carved around the exterior through the red lacquer layers to a black ground with eight lanca characters amidst leafy lotus strapwork panels and above a lotus-lappet band, the interior with a gilt-bronze liner
Condition
The cup is in good condition with the exception of four small areas (max 1cm) of repair to the leafy strapwork and tip of one lanca character on the exterior, and small areas of re-touching to nibbles around the rim. It is probable that the foot has been reduced and that the Qianlong six-character mark has been added or re-freshed at a later stage.
