Description
the ovoid body rising from a recessed base to a short broad flaring neck, freely carved through the lustrous dark brown glaze to the buff body with a broad central band of leafy lotus scroll enclosing a bird, between a foliate scroll band at the shoulder and a stiff leaf band at the lower body, the base unglazed

Condition
The jar is in good overall condition with the exception of restoration and overpainting to two sections of the rim (5 and 17cm., wide) and light glaze scratches and minor glaze firing imperfections.
