Description
of globular form with tall slender garlic neck and supported on a short spreading foot, painted around the exterior in rich cobalt-blue tones with a scholar holding a fly whisk and a lady holding a branch of prunus and an elderly official with a stick, all divided by rocks and swirling mist, the neck with two bands of stylised tulips separated by further bands of Daoist emblems, Japanese wood box
Condition
This vase is in very good condition, with the exception of three small areas of restoration to the rim (8mm, 7mm, 9mm); two short firing cracks to the body; a 5mm horizontal glaze pull to the knob; a slightly uneven base; overall iron spots and tiny glazing imperfections; a 5mm firing imperfection to the inside of the rim; and light scratches to the glaze.
