comprising a figure of Budai, standing on his sack on waves holding a fly whisk, 24.5cm., 9 5/8 in., a figure of Damo, wearing loose-fitting robes, standing on swirling waves, impressed marks, 34.5cm., 13 1/2 in., and three figures of Guanyin, the largest seated holding a child, 25cm., 9 7/8 in., 18cm., 7 1/8 in., 17.2cm., 6 3/4 in.
Provenance
The figure of Budai, Sotheby's London, 9th & 10th November 2005, lot 782.
Condition
The figures are in good overall condition with the exception of minor firing imprefections and: (Budai) restoration to the thumb on the left hand, and tips of two waves at the base; (Damo) loss to the tip of one of the reads at the left side of the base; (Guanyin and child) restoration to the nose, left hand and to the fold in the robe at the left elbow of Guanyin; (Guanyin seated on rock) loss to the tips of the fingers on the left and right hand, tiny nicks to the bottom edge of the robe and the top of the tiara.
