Description

intricately and deeply carved with nine scholars ascending a winding path over a waterfall and beneath pine trees and over-hanging jagged rocks, the wood patinated to a rich chocolate tone

Condition

With the exception of restoration to the uppermost tree on the left and to the left edge of the base (approx. 7cm by 2cm); loss of carving to the lower tree on the left; minute nicks to the extremities of the carving; a hairline crack and six short hairline age cracks to the underside of the base, five of which are visible extending up slightly from the exterior, this carving is in good condition.
