Description
the ovoid form vase with faceted sides and a flat backside set with a tall flared neck flanked by a pair of lug handles, decorated on the front with a formal lotus flower made of chalcedony pieces inset into gilt wires, the stamen and pistil formed with mother-of-pearl and turquoise inlaid pieces, surrounded by lapis lazuli, turquoise and carnelian shou characters and scrolls with further green hardstones studding the neck, shoulders and foot, all reserved on a dense gilt filagree ground of small circles, the mouth fitted with a plate pierced with three holes for holding flowers, the base inscribed with a four character Qianlong nianzhi mark
Condition
The overall condition is very good with the inlay intact and only some minor rubbing to the gilding on the raised vertical ribs along the sides.
