A JADE INLAID CLOISONNE RUYI SCEPTER QING DYNASTY, QIANLONG PERIOD
Estimate
400,000 - 600,000 HKD
bidding is closed
Description
the slender 'S' curved scepter decorated on the front and back with archaistic 'hooks and volutes' and stylised flowers, the gilded edges decorated with blue enamelled key-fret, the jades inlaid in three parts on head, shaft and foot, the head carved with peony and leaf sprays, the middle with a shou character set between two bats, the bottom carved with a further pair of confronting bats, with a tassel and cord
Condition
The overall condition is very good with only some minor pitting to the enamels. The cloisons retain much of their gilding with only some light scratches to the gilding on the underside. The jade pieces are held in place with fine copper wires secured through the reticulated areas (this may be the result of a later repair, however, the jades do appear to be original to the piece).
