Description
each comprising a lacquered elephant standing four-square with its head turned to one side and its trunk upturned, wearing a studded harness and carrying a colourful vase on its back, surmounted by an ornately decorated cloisonné enamel vase flanked at the sides by a pair of archaistic dragon handles, the sides inlaid with glass panels painted with scrolling lotus flowers and floral sprays, the neck pierced and decorated with further lotus scrolls above upright leaf lappets, above a band of ruyi heads at the base, the vase enclosing a light bulb in the form of burning flame on a red candle with wax dripping down the sides, both lights connected to one power cord and switch, all raised on a hardwood waisted pedestal enclosed within an eight-sided balustraded fence decorated with scrolling panels
Condition
There is overall wear to the elephants, with some small flakes to the surface and expected age cracks. The stands are generally in good condition, with some surface wear. There is some rubbing to the gilt on the cloisonne enamel and overall surface wear. The lamp sits slightly loose on the elephant on the left hand side.
