Description

of ovoid form with sloping shoulders set with a waisted neck and flared mouth, tapering to a slightly cinched body, all supported on a short straight foot, painted on two sides with a broad trapezoidal panel with notched corners, each panel painted in famille-rose palette, one panel containing a pair of phoenix perched on rocks amidst flowering peonies and magnolias, opposite an idyllic landscape panel with simple dwellings near a stream, the neck similarly painted with two quatrefoil panels, one with a further landscape and the other with narcissus, roses and nandina berries, all reserved against an imitation 'turquoise' mineral ground, the pale blue ground finely painted with the natural veining of the stone, the underside painted in underglaze blue with a six-character reign mark

Condition

The overall condition is very good with only some light scratches to the turquoise enamelling and wear to the gilding around the mouth.
