Description
of rectangular section forming a pedestal for a finely carved reclining lion, its muscular body curled up resting on its haunches and propped by its forepaws and sharp talons, its head turned sharply to the left, with its snarling face framed by rounded ears against the wavy mane, the raised spine and bushy tail picked out with fine lines, the seal face carved with the characters Ban tang qiu shui, yi fang shan ('To dwell by a small pond of autumn water surrounded by mountains'), the smoothly polished translucent stone of a rich honey-yellow tone
Condition
There are small nicks along the edges of the seal, but otherwise the piece is in good condition overall.
