Description

one with the seat constructed of five rounded frame members encircling a central floating panel, supported on a short waist pierced with quatrefoil panels, above a barbed apron carved in low-relief with interlocking dragon masks, all atop five cabriole legs terminating in qilong heads set upon balls and joined by a flat circular base; the other stool of provincial-style; together with a long nanmu and elm long recessed-leg table (3)

Condition

The lower stool on the left of catalogue image: There is a 4 1/2 inch crack on the side of the central panel, adjacent to smaller cracks and patches of oval and tear drop shape. The apron with a triangular patch 3 1/2 inch wide by 1 1/4 inch tall. Cracks around the edge of the top surface, some filled in. The flat circular base with expected wear. The taller stool on the right of catalogue image: One of the four rounded frame panels chipped at the corner and causing the panel and the central panel to not rest flush against each other. There is one restored triangular shaped section to flat circular base. One of the aprons with partial break. The flat circular base with expected wear. The table (not pictured in catalogue): The burgundy lacquer surface worn through with minor gaps and missing areas. The aprons of one end panel replaced and of later date. Some wear to the feet. The top with numerous long splits through central panel.
