Description
of circular form, carved through layers of red and black lacquer on a dark-brown ground with three concentric registers of ruyi-head pommels encircling a four-point star in the center, with a classic scroll to the exterior encircling the countersunk base lacquered black, Japanese wood box (2)
Condition
There are expected cracks to the recessed areas of the design, particularly to the intereior. The exterior with a concentrated area of five cracks, and another at the foot. The base relacquered. In good overall condition.
