Description

finely carved and incised, the bear and bird curled facing each other with beak and jaws and paws and claws held together, the stone of pale greyish-white tone with traces of the caramel skin 

Provenance

Acquired in Paris, 1962.

Condition

With the exception of a hairline crack to the right leg of the bird, a 4mm by 1mm nick to the back right leg of the bear, russet-coloured natural inclusions along the spines of the two animals and very minor overall surface scratches, this carving is in very good condition.
