Description

the rounded sides of each rising from a short foot to a slightly everted rim, painted with shaped panels of scholars beside trees in landscape, alternating with pomegranate and leaf-shaped panels containing a peony and pomegranate on a coral ground, the base with apocryphal Chenghua mark

Condition

The bowls are in good overall condition with the exception of a 1cm., hairline firing line to the interior of one foot, and probable traces of overpainting to a small area of the rim at the exterior (not visible under UV inspection), minor glaze firing imperfections including iron spot impurities and pin-head glaze holes.
