15,000 - 20,000 GBP
bidding is closed

Description

the cylindrical body rising to a waisted neck and straight rim, painted with three shaped panels enclosing Immortals, all reserved on a ground of enlarged shou characters, with further smaller characters to the neck, the base with apocryphal Jiajing mark

Provenance

Formerly the property of a Private Swedish Collection, puchased in Hong Kong in the 1950s.

Condition

This finely painted vase is in very good overall condition with the exception of some fritting to the rim, a 1cm., wide shallow glaze flake to the top of the rim, a slightly uneven footring associated with firing, a 3cm., area of tiny firing lines to the footring, and minor glaze and firing imperfections including iron-spot glaze impurities and light glaze scatches. It should be noted that the cobalt blue is of a far richer and more brilliant tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest.
