Description

inlaid with three white jade plaques applied with various hardstones to create scenes of a peach, finger citron, pomegranate tree and lingzhi issuing from rockwork, the gilt bronze shaft and handle with lotus scroll work in relief, inset with the bajixiang in hardstones, the reverse engraved with elaborate scrolling lotus

Condition

With the exception of minor loss of inlay to two branches on the head, and branch on the central plaque and to the extremity of the ruyi cloud on the lowest plaque, a circa 1cm hairline crack to the top right corner of the central plaque, a chip to the conch shell below the central plaque (circa 0.5cm), slight movement to the joint between the head and the shaft (possibly due to repair), and minute nibbles and light surface scratches and rubbing of the gilding to the edges and neck of the sceptre (concentrated to the reverse side), this piece is in good condition.
