Description

the compressed globular body carved with a taotie band and rising from three lion-mask cabriole legs to a short everted rim, set to the shoulder with a large pair of pierced leafy dragon handles, the domed cover similarly carved and surmounted by a pierced coiled dragon finial

Condition

With the exception of a 5cm hairline crack extending from the rim to the base, minute nibbles and bruises to the edges of the rim of the body and cover and to the extremities of the carving, the censer is in good condition. It should be noted that the stone is of a slightly more yellowish-green tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest, where it appears as a rather cold bluish-green tone.
