Description
the beast carved with front legs outstretched and head turned to the right, with bushy eyebrows and bulging eyes, the mane and tail incised with fur markings, the spine with rounded vertebrae, the stone of celadon tone with areas of russet flecking

Acquired in Paris, 1962.
Condition
Apart from charcoal natural inclusions and natural hairline cracks in the stone, and very light overall scratches to the surface, this carving is in excellent condition.
