Folio (16½  x 11⅜  in.; 419 x 288 mm)  10 double-page engraved plates; small tear at upper outer corner of title, light dampstaining affecting the upper outer corners of plates 7–10.  Original plain paper wrappers; spine chipped, some light dampstaining and a spotting.

Catalogue Note

First edition of "the first major star atlas published after Bode's Uranographia of 1801" (Linda Hall).  "Wollaston's most important contribution to astronomy was not made at a fundamental level, but was rather his publication of ... useful practical aids to the ordinary astronomer and navigator ... His third important contribution, a collection of ten plates ... was published by John Cary Sr., whose firm was renowned for its maps, atlases, and globes" (DSB).
