4 parts in one volume, 8vo (7¾ x 4½ in.; 197 x 114 mm). Double-page title printed in red and black, 9 engraved folding plates, 4 woodcut plates (3 printed in red and black of which 2 are folding), 9 woodcut text illustrations (of which 7 are full-page and printed in red and black), 1 full-page typographic text illustration ("Systema Paganico-Satyricum Finale"), and one folding plate composed of woodcut and typographic elements; title-page loosely laid in, light text browning. Contemporary half vellum over paste-paper boards; minor losses to foot of spine.

First edition of this scientific and astronomical work, treating the astronomical achievements of Copernicus, Flamsteed, Galileo, Halley, Hevelius, Kepler, Newton, Regiomonatus, and others. The constellations bear the distinction of having the stars printed in red. Scarce, Hagelgans's work is not recorded in the standard bibliographies and only two copies have been sold in Anglo-American auctions in the past thirty years.
